WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF AWASOG / WACOG EMERITUS PROF. J.I BRIAN-D ADINMA

Esteemed colleagues and distinguished fellows and intending fellows of West African College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, it is indeed with great pleasure that i welcome you all to the 5th congress of the Association of West African societies of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AWASOG)/West African College of O bst etri cia ns a nd Gyne co log ists (WACOG) holding from 2nd to 5th September 2026 at the popular Festival Hotel Conference Center and Spa Lagos, the commercial capital city of Nigeria.

Recall that the Association of West African societies of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AWASOG) was formally inaugurated at Abuja Nigeria on 17th February 2020, as an umbrella body guiding the operations and commitments of practicing Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as Obstetrics and Gynecological Country-societies in the west Af rican sub-re gion towar ds promoting, protecting and upholding the r e p r o d u c t i v e h e a l t h , s e x u a l a n d reproductive rights of women in the sub region.

The theme of this year's congress - “Reproductive Health Innovations and Equity in the West African Sub-region” together with its sub-themes:- Exploring Genomics in Reproductive Disorders; Assisted Reproduction and Ethics; Gende r R espons ive Se xual and R e p r o d u c t i v e H e a l t h R i g h t s ; Combating Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics Practice; Family Planning and Development; Gynecological Cancers: Management Challenges are unique and in tandem with contemporary global reproductive health challenges focusing on the West African Sub-region. Guest and paper presentations related to this theme and sub-themes promised to be very interesting and will no doubt widen the knowledge-base and enrich the knowledge-content of the participant at the congress.

The congress will also parade an array of exhibitions from notable Drug companies and Agencies and provide the necessary environment for networking amongst the congress participants..

I sincerely urge every fellow to attend and furthermore invite our colleagues who are not yet fellows to register and get inducted into this new college to avail themselves of the advantages and immeasurable prospects that go with being a fellow of the college.

  • Title of Paper - Clear and descriptive
  • Author Information - Full names and affiliations. Underline presenter's name
  • Context - Background and significance
  • Objective - Study aims and purpose
  • Methodology - Research design and methods
  • Results - Key findings (preliminary if ongoing)
  • Conclusion - Implications and recommendations

  1. Abstracts must not exceed 250 words
  2. Submission deadline: June 30, 2026 (no extensions)
  3. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference brochure/book of abstracts

INVITATION TO THE 5th CONGRESS OF ASSOCIATION OF WEST AFRICAN SOCIETIES OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY (AWASOG)/WEST AFRICAN COLLEGE OF OBSTETRICIANS AND GYNAECOLOGISTS (WACOG), AND AWARD OF FELLOWSHIP

The Exco and Council of AWASOG/WACOG are pleased to invite you to participate at the 5th AWASOG/WACOG Congress and receive the Award of Fellowship of the West African College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (If not already done so). Recall that AWASOG was inaugurated at Abuja, Nigeria, on 17thFebruary 2020, exclusively for West African Country Member-Societies of Gynecology and Obstetrics/Gynecological professionals who have obtained fellowship of other recognized colleges/institutions. In August, 2024 at the 3rd Congress of AWASOG held in Lagos, Nigeria, 85 OBS/GYN professionals were inaugurated as foundation fellows of the West African College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FWACOG), while another 98 fellows were inducted at the 4th congress held at Abuja in September 2025, bringing the total number of inducted Fellows to 183. The events of the 2026 Congress are scheduled as follows

If the receipt of the award is acceptable to you, you are please expected to attach an evidence of fellowship of a cognate college e.g. Certificate, along with the registration for the congress through the link provided below. You are also expected to pay a total amount of N450,000.00 or USD 350 (to cover the necessary materials and logistics). In addition you are expected to register for the congress with the payment of registration fee of N70,000 or ( USD 50) Early bird registration.
